A set of instructions, that form the title of each drawing, are carried out on the surfaces of the gallery space. These drawings are placed in relation to, or rather intervene in the architecture of the building, the divisions of its space and the way in which light moves through and alters the spacial relationships within the space. The dimensions of the drawing are determined by the artist’s body. These drawings deliberately set out to foreground the artist and spectator’s body, framing perceptual and conceptual experience above line, mark, medium or primary gesture,
What the artist encodes and transmits through the drawing, and what is decoded by the receiver (audience) becomes disrupted by noise; the bumps and blemishes of the surfaces, the hesitations and doubts, the awkwardness and gaucheness’ of the artist body during the execution of the work, the perception, knowledge and experience of the viewer. But in this gap of encoding and decoding, in the transmission and distortion between conception and reception is maybe where art happens.
