| Our
generation is so fortunate that we have the freedom and ability
to move throughout the world to work and live. It was a canny set
of circumstances that brought Jess Calke to live near Long Eaton.
Hailing originally from Lancashire and with a momentary stop off
in our Capital for a decade or so, Jess arrived in the Midlands
rather perplexed and very wide eyed.
As
with most artists there was no plan, no firm pathway, apart from
the will and commitment to make the most oher new circumstances
and to enjoy each opportunity as it arose and to develop a new set
of skills. Photography became a new passion was also influenced
by her new environment. She found solace in the quiet of the countryside
and warmth when close to animals and thus a genre was developed.
An
opportunity arose to take a space in the Harrington Mills Studios
community so she became an early resident there and has since exhibited
regularly with her own solo exhibitions and as part of a wider community
in competitions and participating in art and design shows.
Her
solo exhibition at Harrington Mills studios from Sunday1st March
14:00 2009 takes a diverse look at our
trodden
paths, the familiar, the lost in memory, the what’s to come…
It’s
an exhibition that moves forward in time, yet looks back with fondness
and just as life is forever 3

so is ‘The Pattern of Life’' |
